New Wheel Cover for Firebiner
about 4 years ago – Sat, Feb 29, 2020 at 08:37:57 PM

Hey all,

It has been a while since we updated this campaign. Things are continuing to rock and roll, especially now that we have more products to offer in addition to the Firebiner. We continue to innovate on new ideas, but also on our tried and true Firebiner. We have made several changes to the original, improving it based on your feedback. Thank you so much. One of the latest innovations for the Firebiner is a new WHEEL COVER. We have limited quantities on hand to test the market. If you ever found yourself wishing you had a simple but effective silicone cover for your EverSpark wheel, well then CLICK HERE to get yourself one. To be honest, I was not sold on the idea originally since I didn't think it was really needed. However, after using one the past couple of weeks, I love it. Mike did a great job designing this and it works like a charm. It has a very small profile, not bulky like I thought it would be, but highly effective and secure. Check it out here:

The EverSpark Wheel Cover works for both the Firebiner and the new Fire Escape, as you can see. Let us know what you think.

Also, look for our next campaign coming soon (hint, you can see more on the homepage of our website). If you like the outdoors, you will love this new campaign. We will keep you updated on the launch.

Thanks for being awesome backers!

- Joe

Fire Escape, the next-generation to the Firebiner, is launching
over 4 years ago – Tue, Oct 08, 2019 at 12:59:33 AM

Fire Escape Goes Live Tuesday Morning

We have exciting news and are seeking your help to spread the word.

The Fire Escape will be launching on Kickstarter Tuesday morning at around 9:45 am Mountain Time. The Fire Escape is great for anyone and everyone who spends time outside or rides in a vehicle.

We have awesome early bird specials and want you to have first dibs. Check out more info below.

Thanks,
Joe

Fire Escape, the newest must-have Multi-Tool Carabiner.

A fire starting, window breaking, seatbelt cutting, bottle popping, O2 tank opening, every-day-carry, multi-tool carabiner, a must-have, life-saving tool for everyone.

We all love a good carabiner and probably have many of them lying around. The Fire Escape takes the trusted carabiner to a whole new level, building on its predecessor the patented Firebiner®. The patent-pending, innovative design includes a beefy seatbelt cutter, a window breaker, a fire-starter, a bottle opener, an O2 wrench and a hex wrench (double as hang-slots for keys), all disguised in an aesthetic carabiner clip. It has EverSpark technology, similar to a typical lighter, on the end of the Fire Escape which works with a replaceable ferro rod housed inside the stainless steel body. One quick flick of your thumb or finger and sparks go flying. So clip it, cut it, turn it, smash it, pop it, spark it, escape it with the fire-starting multitool carabiner inspired by first-responders. You have to see it to appreciate all this little 1.7 oz tool has to offer.

Be prepared and able to escape with the Fire Escape.

You can click on the following link which redirects you to our pre-launch page now but will redirect to our campaign when it goes live.

Firebiner Special Editions
over 6 years ago – Mon, Oct 23, 2017 at 03:20:18 PM

Yes, we are still alive (graphic in honor of Halloween next week).

Sorry about the lack of updates for 3 months. We have been a little crazy – a good crazy, but crazy nonetheless. We continue to underestimate demand at times and have been a little sketchy with inventory, but are now in pretty good shape on most items.

In our last update we mentioned going to the Summer Outdoor Retailer Show. It was great. We shared a booth with our good friends at Revel Gear (you can now see some of their product on our website). We had a good time and made some great contacts. We continue to get broader placement and have more opportunities opening up weekly. Sometimes it gets a little overwhelming but we are managing. Many of you have reached out to us for various issues or questions and we appreciate all the great feedback and support from you all. You truly have been great and we are very appreciative.

As of the last update, we had added Sleeping Bags and Replacement Ferro Rods to our website. We stocked out of the Hero Clip (aka Qliplet) but will be getting more very soon thanks to our friends at Hero Clip. We combined the Kodiak into just one SKU with two choices to make – color and size. We also added Special Edition Firebiners. Go check them out and we will continue to add more special editions as we go along.

We are currently working out a deal to carry a limited line of backpack/camping gear – sleeping bags, backpacks, etc. Look for those to be added to our website very soon.

If you have any issues at all, please reach out to us directly at [email protected].

We finally got our product on the almighty Amazon and are working to get them Prime available. You can check us out on Amazon. We would love for you to write a review if you can spare a few minutes. That would certainly help us out.

We are working on securing our booth for the Winter Outdoor Retailer Show, which will be awesome since it is right here in Denver, CO. We are looking forward to that.

Thanks everyone for all your support. Please shoot us a message if you know any shops that need the Firebiner or Kodiak but don’t currently carry them. If you have any contact info, that would make it easier for us to reach out directly.

Take care and live to talk about it!

- Joe & Mike

P.S. we thought you might enjoy some of these new items:

Mike is a bit of an engineering nerd (self-proclaimed) and loves this well thought out engineered pen. He backed their first project of the magnetically controlled pencil.

MAGNO INK The World's Most Intelligent Magnetically Energised Pen.

MAGNO INK: The latest innovation from HRIBARCAIN- when a pen no longer conforms to the status-quo using a multi-magnet propulsion system . Check them out here.

We met the guys from TreePod at an innovation awards ceremony in Boulder and loved what they are doing. Who doesn’t enjoy “chillaxing” while hanging from a tree?

TreePod: A Spacious Hanging Retreat

TreePod combines the luxury of a cabana with the portability and suspension of a hammock for ultimate relaxation. With only one hanging point and diameters of 5 or 6 feet, TreePod takes the evolution of the hammock to an entirely new level. Check it out HERE.   Only 5 days left in their campaign.

We can’t get enough of the tree-hanging outdoor fun, so here is another company from Poland that has a fun idea - Tentnest. They seem like good people with a good product that will be launching on Kickstarter in a few days. They can use help promoting for a great launch. If you want, please sign up on their Thunderclap to help spread the word.

 Thanks everyone.

Off to the OR show in UT
almost 7 years ago – Fri, Jul 21, 2017 at 01:45:02 PM

Wow, I can’t believe it has been two months since our last update.

By now, everyone should have hopefully received your pledge. We still have a little over 100 people who have not filled out your survey so we were not able to ship. We also have about 6 returned packages with undeliverable addresses (all in the USA). Email [email protected] if you have any questions or concerns.

We have been busy getting ready for the Outdoor Retailer Show in SLC, UT next week. We did not secure a booth in time, but luckily our friends at Revel Gear came to the rescue. We will be sharing booth VO2376 with them. If you are attending the show, or know anyone who is, please have them come over to booth VO2376 to say hi. And, while you are at it, check out the cool product at http://revelgear.com/. Brian and Kody are great people and we are excited to share a space with them and spend some quality time with them. See some preliminary booth pictures below so you know what to look for.

NEW ITEMS ON OUTDOORELEMENT.COM

As many of you already found out, we have added replacement ferro rods and Vials to www.outdoorelement.com. We added color choices for the Accessory Kit. You can now choose between the Black, Red or Silver vial for your Accessory Kit. And, we added our new sleeping bag.

SLEEPING BAG

Check it out at outdoorelement.com
Check it out at outdoorelement.com

If you’re a car-camper or have a short trip to the campsite, then this is perfect for you. Use coupon code “snooz1707” to get 20% off a sleeping bag thru the end of August. Here is the lowdown:

  • Temperature rating: -15C/5F extreme, -8C/18F comfort
  • Weight: 1.85 kg / 4.1 lbs
  • Size: 215 x 80 x 55 cm / 84 x 31.5 x 21.6 in
  • Color: Blue Bird Sky and Navy Blue
  • Shell fabric: 300T diamond ripstop nylon
  • Lining: 290T polyester taffeta
  • Insulation: 4-hole hollow polyester fiber
  • Hanging tabs for longer-term storage
  • Left and right opening options, able to be zipped together
  • Shoulder baffle to keep the heat in on cold nights

The Shell is versatile, lightweight, and constructed with a reinforcing pattern to prevent rips/tears. There will be a sum total of both vertical and horizontal 300 threads per square inch as your outer layer of defense. This material is used for hot air balloons and parachutes…you can trust it with it’s strength to weight ratio.

The Lining uses typical fabric designed for down-proofing, for winter work and for outer wear. The insulation won’t get out and you will stay warm. It has very low shrinkage and good breathable properties, so sleep easy as you dream of the next day’s adventure.

The Insulation is made from 4-hole hollow polyester fiber which is derived from acid and alcohol meeting up in a vacuum at some elevated temperature and BAM, polymerization happens (polymerization is a process of reacting monomer molecules together in a chemical reaction to form polymer chains or three-dimensional networks…because in this day and age, networking is always important). This polymerized material is extruded into a ribbon. It hardens and is cut into chips. After the chips are dried, they are placed in hoppers and are melted and spun into usable fiber. The extruded “melt spun” fiber are brought through spinnerets giving the fiber its final shape. This is where it gets interesting. Sure we could use the standard circle or a bean shape for fun….but we opted to use the “4 hole” shape. By creating hollow fibers, air is trapped within the polymer. Your body heat gets trapped thus creating some lightweight handy insulation for those cool nights. Polyester is ideal for sleeping bag insulation because it tends to hold its shape where wool and cotton tend to flatten over a much shorter period of time (and lose their warming effect). Down (feathers) is another good option, because it’s light weight and packs better but also comes with a premium. No ducks or geese were harmed in the construction of this bag.

INVENTORY

We haven’t really had much time (or expertise for that matter) to market and sell the product yet. However, we have had some awesome inquiries and have cut a few great deals. Some of you may have seen the Firebiner in a couple of monthly subscription boxes and more are coming. Look for them. We are also getting good interest with a few large retailers and may have some great opportunities there. With all of that and very little marketing/sales efforts happening, we are still stocked out of all but a few Aurora (multi-color, aka “RBM”) and Silverthorne. We have some more stock coming in next week and then a large shipment coming in next month. Sorry if we are out of the color you want, but we will be getting it in soon.

NEW PRODUCTS

We should be getting in soon the next round of samples for our new product in development. We will then field test it more, get some good photos and video and get ready for our next crowd-funding campaign. It will be awesome. We will let you know when all that rolls out. We have learned a lot with this campaign and will make the next one even better. Thanks for helping us get better and better. You all have been awesome.

We will hopefully see you at the OR show or at least online in the next campaign. Until then, here are some pics of our booth, still in the works (finishing up this weekend).
