Doubled Our Goal; First Stretch achieved

I fully intended to send out an update over the weekend since we doubled our funding goal on Friday night, but life just got in the way. And, now we are almost 250% funded with more than 1,500 backers. You all are amazing. HUGE thank you for all your support. Please keep spreading the word. We have had some great experiences so far - radio spot, talked with TV station in the UK, etc. Lots of fun...
We had a blast with Peter Boyles on 710 KNUS radio last week. Check out the video Mike put together. It is fun and entertaining. Mike did great for his first radio spot. Mike is the one at the left microphone. I (Joe) am the funny-looking one on the couch to the right. People always told me I have a face perfect for radio. :)
We have been in touch with the great folks from North One TV in the UK with regards to the Gadget Show. So, for our wonderful UK supporters, you can hopefully look for us there in the near future. Everything has been "brilliant" so far! :)
More fun stuff to come...
We had several questions on the Zippo replacement flints and have added an FAQ on that. The flints will not work - they have just slightly too wide of a diameter. Since our ferro rods are over 2.5 times longer we should not need to replace them often. Your Firebiner will come with 2 extra ferro rods and more replacements will be available at OutdoorElement.com.

You all have unlocked our first STRRREEEETTTTCCCH GOAL (see what I did there?).Thanks a ton. In addition to our original colors of Black, Blue & Gold, we have added Silver. We hope to add the Red/Blue metallic color when we hit $45,000 and triple our goal. The next round of prototypes should be titanium-coated with our desired colors. Here are the color swatches together with the 5th color, a cool metallic mix of red & blue, as we unlock the next stretch goal.

Woohoo! Fully funded in less than 4 days, just shortly after our last update posted. We are very excited. You are the best backers around. We love all the comments and feedback. Keep 'em coming in. Also, thanks for continuing to spread the word. We have a couple stretch goals planned and will announce them as we hit our goals.
We will authorize the factory to secure steel for the tooling to help speed up the development time and allow us to get into production as early as possible. We won't start cutting steel though until we approve the next round of prototypes.
While I was supporting my son with his BSA eagle project, Mike was out playing in the junkyard. He was having a little too much fun making this short video. While we have had several questions as to whether this would cut through a seat belt and we were confident it would, we had not actually tried it. Well, now it is official. Cuts like a charm. We are over 60% funded now and going strong. I added some "share" buttons to the campaign. Let me know what you think of them and by all means use them to get the word out. We would love to hear any feedback from you.
We did get word that the prototypes should be ready in about 3 to 4 weeks. These are hopefully the final approval samples to begin tooling. Components are all sourced and good to go.
We had some questions regarding adding more units on at the end of the campaign without increasing shipping charges. I am looking into that. It should be doable.
